
Based on Article 106, paragraph (3) of the Law on Higher Education of the Canton Sarajevo (“Official Gazette of the Canton Sarajevo, No. 36/22”), Articles 148 and 171 of the Statute of the University of Sarajevo, Article 16 of the Rules of Study for the Third Cycle of Studies at the University of Sarajevo, the Decision of the Council of the Professor Zdravko Grebo Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Sarajevo No. 747/25 of 09.09.2025, the Decision of the Senate of the University of Sarajevo granting consent for the announcement of the Call No. 01-10/27/25 of 26.09.2025, the Professor Zdravko Grebo Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Sarajevo announces
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
for the enrollment of the fourth generation of students of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study: Global Studies, in the 2025/2026 academic year
I
The study program is organized over a period of three academic years and is valued with 180 ECTS credits. Upon its completion, the academic title and scientific degree of Doctor of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences is acquired.

The right to enroll in the doctoral study, under equal conditions, is held by citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and foreign citizens who meet the requirements determined by law, the Statute of the University of Sarajevo, the Rules of Study for the Third Cycle of Studies of the University of Sarajevo, and the Curriculum of the Doctoral Study “Global Studies.”

Candidates who have obtained a diploma of the second cycle of studies, integrated studies, academic specialist, or Master of Science according to the pre-Bologna system of study and have acquired 300 ECTS, as well as all candidates for whom, after the procedure of recognition of a foreign higher education qualification, it has been determined that they have completed adequate education for continuing studies at the third cycle of higher education, may apply to the Call.

The Call is open for the admission of 15 candidates, and the minimum number for which the study will be organized is 8 candidates.

Teaching is conducted in the English language, and one elective course may be conducted in the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Along with the application to the Call, candidates are required to submit:
1. Diploma – I cycle of studies/undergraduate study (original or certified copy);
2. Certificate of passed examinations – I cycle of studies/undergraduate study (original or certified copy);
3. Diploma – II cycle of studies/postgraduate study (original or certified copy);
4. Certificate of passed examinations – II cycle of studies/postgraduate study (original or certified copy);
5. Excerpt from the Register of Births (original or certified copy);
6. Citizenship certificate (original or certified copy, not older than 6 months);
7. Two recommendations (original);
8. Biography with bibliography;
9. Decision on recognition (nostrification) of diplomas of the first and/or second cycle of studies for candidates who obtained previous education outside Bosnia and Herzegovina, or a certificate that the recognition procedure is in progress (original);
10. “Research statement” – explanation (200–500 words) about the field of research the candidate wishes to pursue.

The deadline for application to the Call is 31 December 2025.
VIII
The tuition fee for the doctoral study amounts to 18,000.00 KM (6,000.00 KM per year of study, which students pay in installments of 3,000.00 KM per semester).
