About the Organisation
The ERMA Alumni Network (EAN) is the official alumni association of the European Regional MA Programme in Human Rights and Democracy in Southeast Europe (ERMA), a joint programme of the University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna. EAN connects over 650 graduates with their alma mater and with each other, serving as a platform for systematic professional and academic collaboration. EAN is a member of the Global Campus Alumni (GCA) Association and focuses on connecting, engaging, and empowering its alumni community.
Role Overview
The Alumni Relations Manager is the highest EAN position with overall responsibility for EAN’s performance, strategic direction, and institutional representation. The Manager works closely with the EAN Focal Point and the ERMA programme and reports to the International Academic Council. The role combines strategic oversight and supervision of the EAN Board with direct engagement in key institutional and representational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Board Supervision
- Set strategic guidelines and directions for EAN activities in line with the EAN Strategic Plan and ERMA’s institutional priorities
- Supervise and monitor the EAN Board’s implementation of the Annual Action Plan, ensuring accountability, quality, and timely delivery
- Supervise and monitor the EAN yearly budget, ensuring accountability and expenditure per the rules of the ERMA Programme and the University of Sarajevo
- Chair EAN Board meetings and strategic planning sessions, and ensure the Board functions effectively as a governing body
- Hold overall responsibility for EAN’s performance and institutional outcomes
Reporting & Institutional Relations
- Prepare and submit narrative reports on EAN activities and performance to the ERMA programme and the International Academic Council
- Represent EAN in its relations with the ERMA programme management, the University of Sarajevo, the University of Bologna, and partner organisations
- Monitor EAN activities, identify areas for improvement, and provide guidance to the Board accordingly
Global Campus Alumni (GCA) Liaison
- Represent EAN at monthly GCA meetings and coordinate EAN’s participation in cross-network initiatives, joint projects, and GCA-led programmes
- Oversee EAN’s engagement with GCA opportunities — mentoring, project grants, publications, census, and other initiatives — and guide EAN’s positioning within the wider GCA community
Contribution to Key Activities
- Contribute directly to high-level activities including key alumni events and ERMA application call promotion
- Guide the Board on alumni communications, campaigns, and outreach to ensure quality and strategic alignment
Qualifications & Profile
- Graduate of the European Regional MA in Human Rights and Democracy in Southeast Europe (ERMA)
- Experience in strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, or institutional reporting
- Demonstrated experience in managing teams, boards, or organisations; strong leadership and supervisory capacity
- Strong communications skills — written and verbal — in English, including for social media and communications
- Strong people skills: ability to build relationships, motivate volunteers, and foster a collaborative community
- Ability to work independently and remotely, with strong organisational and time-management skills
- Familiarity with EAN, the ERMA programme, and the Global Campus Alumni ecosystem
