The Global Campus of Human Rights is a unique worldwide network of more than 100 universities committed to excellence in human rights education, research, and advocacy. Organised into eight regional hubs across Europe, South East Europe, Africa, the Arab World, Asia-Pacific, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean—each of which offers a master’s programme in human rights and democratisation—the Global Campus fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and promotes the exchange of knowledge and best practices across continents.
Building on the legacy of the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC)—established in 2002—the Global Campus has grown into a dynamic platform that connects academic institutions, scholars, practitioners, and students dedicated to advancing human rights and democratisation worldwide. Its programmes combine rigorous academic training with practical, field-based experience, empowering current and future human rights defenders with the skills, tools, and global perspective needed to address complex human rights challenges.
Through its academic programmes, global partnerships, research initiatives, and outreach activities, the Global Campus plays a vital role in strengthening human rights discourse and supporting democratic resilience around the world.
The European Union is the lead donor of the Global Campus, supporting its mission to advance human rights education worldwide. In 2019, the Global Campus entered a long-term partnership with the Right Livelihood Foundation to strengthen children’s rights through joint research, training, and outreach initiatives.
