PANEL DISCUSSION_THE EU AS A GEOPOLITICAL ACTOR IN THE WESTERN BALKANS: AN ASSESSMENT

A panel discussion titled “The EU as a Geopolitical Actor in the Western Balkans: An Assessment” will take place on Monday, February 12, 18:00h at the Professor Zdravko Grebo Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Sarajevo. The discussion will be held in the English language.

In 2019, when Ursula von der Leyen outlined the priorities of the incoming European Commission, she claimed an aspiration to be the President of a ‘Geopolitical Commission.’ As we approach the end of the Commission’s five-year term, the discussion will take stock of the track record of EU policies towards the Western Balkans. During the event, the participants will discuss the state of geopolitical competition in the region and analyze the debate inside the EU concerning the increase of its influence through the reinvigoration of its enlargement policy.
